Scaffold The Scarlet Letter for Learning Success!

Students often struggle to get into The Scarlet Letter because they don’t have enough background knowledge to make it easier for them to understand the sometimes difficult text. The language is often unfamiliar and difficult for kids, so it’s very important that we help them! We need to offer them scaffolding & tools to ensure they get the most out of this amazing classic!

One tool I use is an interactive PowerPoint lesson on how to understand Hawthorne’s writing.

Another is a student-friendly study guide/reading questions packet.

The third big one is this “Spoiler Alert” activity.
